Volunteer your expertise

Together, we can do so much more. You can have a part in engaging and raising awareness of the importance of immigrants to our communities, to recognize their expertise and to empower immigrants to reach their full potential.

We are always looking for mentors and mock interviewers to work directly with newcomers and immigrants who are on their career journey. Your expertise can make a lasting impact on their lives and how they feel welcomed to Canada.

Become a Mock Interviewer

“As an experienced Human Resources  professional, I was looking for meaningful relevant volunteerism. At WILL I can support internationally trained professionals build their confidence and understanding of the Canadian interview process, which helps support them reach their career goals.” – Connie

As a part of its Employment Preparation Program for Internationally Trained Individuals, WILL offers clients the opportunity to experience a mock interview to practice interview skills and to receive constructive feedback from experienced interviewers. These clients are well-qualified internationally trained professionals and the mock interview is a powerful and positive experience for them.

In order to make this as realistic an experience as possible, we recruit volunteer mock interviewers from the community. We like to have people with hiring authority from businesses/organizations in Southwestern Ontario or experience in a position of hiring influence, but ultimately we are looking for people with experience as a Canadian interviewer. Your expertise can make a difference.

Become a Mentor

“WILL programs have felt like peer-to-peer and authentic conversations between folks who share a common work interest. My role, as a mentor and a mock interviewer, I can often be to help connect the dots and give some additional context and supports, but sometimes it can also be as simple as just being a new friend and confidant in a new place.” – Molly

The WILL Immploy Mentorship programs brings together immigrant talent with volunteer mentors across Southwestern Ontario and this support provides guidance and practical understanding for newcomers on how to meet their career goals.

We match volunteer mentors with skilled newcomers looking for opportunities within the same field of work.

Volunteer on your own, or with your company and reap many professional benefits such as strengthening your leadership and coaching skills, improving your cross-cultural awareness, increasing your international perspective on your field or occupation, and even gaining an upper hand on spotting talent for potential recruitment ahead of your competition.
